Apostol June 20, 2000 marked the culmination of the long-awaited visit to the Holy Land. I went with her group of friends and church in New York. We left Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv via JFK in New York. We arrived at Ben Gurion Airport and took a bus to Tiberias for dinner and a tour of the city during the night. The next day we passed the water in the Sea of Galilee aboard a sailboat. We arrived at Capermaum point where Jesus is at the heart of his ministry, he traveled to the Beatitudes Arnäs mountain where Jesus preached to the people. A Tabgha we visited the church of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes and the chapel Saint Peter, recalling Jesus' instruction to Peter. We got the old caravan route to the well-preserved archaeological site of Tel Magiddo, a fortified urban centers, where excavations have revealed the remains of 22 layers of occupation. Mount Caramel, was the next stop and other traditional places, where the prophet Elijah defeated the Baal. We visited the Roman aqueduct and the theater at Caesarea, a center for the early Christians. We renewed our baptism promises at the Jordan River, then went to Beit Shean to visit the ruins of the ancient city, which was the Egyptian government during the 16th-12th century BC, continuously inhabited for 5000 years, this was one of Roman cities Jesus passed on the way from Galilee to Jerusalem. The small village of Qana is a relic of Jesus' first miracle at the wedding. We traveled through the desert in Jordan and down below the level of the sea for a visit to Masada, the spectacular rock fortress of Herod and known as the grip strength of the Jewish revolt against the Romans. We took a cable car at the top to explore, and looked down at the remains of Roman camps and the Siege ramp below. Was made to Jericho and visit the ruins of the ancient city that was conquered by Joshua. It is also the oldest inhabited city in the world and parts of the ancient walls were discovered. In Bethlehem, we explored the venerable ceded to be the place where Jesus was a boy. The church, built in places is the oldest functioning church. We sang Christmas carols in the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem and shepherds Field. In Mount Olive, we had the fantastic view over the city of Jerusalem of gold, including the Temple Mount and Dome of the Rock. Next stop was the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed for God's will be done. The old city of Jerusalem, where the daily life and customs within narrow, winding streets have remained the same over the centuries. We reported on the events during the last hours of Jesus' life, when we walked the Via Dolorosa, the Way of the Cross. We visited the place of death and possible resurrection of Jesus, the Holy Sepulcher. Mount Zion, we reviewed the location of the tomb of King David, revered as the place of Cenacle Cenacle.
